Funding

Victim Support Service (VSS) has an annual turnover of under $2million to provide services throughout South Australia. The majority of  the funds are provided annually by the South Australian Attorney-General's Department from the Victims of Crime Fund. Each year we must submit a request for continued funding to maintain services. We must also apply for additional funds for special purposes, and to cover general increases in costs.

The Attorney-General's grant does not fulfill all our operational requirements, hence we need to raise other income from the following sources:

  • a grant from the Department for Families and Communities for our work with non-offending parents of children who have been sexually abused.
  • membership subscriptions and donations.
  • bequests - we have a comprehensive bequest program.
  • bank and investment interest.
  • rent from our tenants at the Halifax Street office.
  • other one-off grants for special projects (e.g. crime scene cleaning, interpreters, volunteer equipment and victim awareness training) from such sources as Community Benefit SA, Bank SA Staff and Charitable Fund, Commonwealth Bank Staff Fund and Adelaide Bank Foundation.
  • sponsorship from the private sector (currently Community CPS Credit Union supportS our newsletter - Victims' Voice).

We thank all our supporters and members. May we encourage anyone interested in supporting crime victims to make a donation, sponsorship, bequest or join as a member of VSS.
